Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling)
The Diploma of Financial Counselling (CHC51115) provides training for those who wish to assist people faced with debt and other financial issues. The course is offered by Relationships Australia South Australia, through its Registered Training Organisation, the Australian Institute of Social Relations (RTO Code: 102358).
This qualification gives students the knowledge to work as financial counsellors in a variety of agencies (which meet the requirements for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) exemption from a financial services or credit licence, under ASIC class order 10/1063). Financial counsellors work across a variety of metropolitan, rural and remote settings.
All financial counsellors have specialist knowledge of legal remedies and options to manage debt and financial difficulty, that may be related to gambling behaviour and are advocates who work in a model of social justice and client empowerment.
